Sex is bad...violence is GOOd. :)
by d0rkyd00d injoelbear brought up a point about something on the sex forum that i've been thinking about for a while, and i'm wondering what the answer to my question is.
dunno if this should be on the relationships forum, but here it is anyways.
why is it such a no-no for kids like myself (i'm 16) to see sex, yet so acceptable for us to see violent movies?

"Band of Brothers" & "Why We...
by Nathan Natas inwwii was my father's war, my uncles' war.
my dad was with the army in germany, and my marine uncle returned from iwo jima.. being raised as a 'dub, i had no connection to any of that until it was too late.. for that reason the hbo series "band of brothers" holds special interest for me.
these were the 18 year old kids my dad and his brothers went to school with.. anybody else following the series?.

Nathan:
I've really enjoyed the "Band of Brothers" series. My father was in the Navy in the south Pacific during WWII. He enlisted when he turned 17. He had finished High School early and got his dad to sign the enlistment papers. Almost all young men at that time wanted to serve their country in the war.
He once told me that he had seen some horrible things in the south Pacific and they had a profound affect on him. When he returned from the war he was fairly disenchanted with mainstream Christianity and was searching for "truth". Unfortunately for him, some bastard JW showed up at his office and placed a "Let God Be True" book with him in 1951. That simple act screwed up the childhood of my two brothers, two sisters and me. Not to mention my mother, who's greatest fear as we grew up was that we might fornicate and get disfellowshipped. If I'd only known the value of being disfellowshipped, I might have enjoyed some good fornication. But alas I didn't want to die at Armageddon.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Anthony Mundine Comments
by drahcir yarrum ini just read the comments of australian boxer and muslim anthony mundine.
he says the attack on the wtc on sept. 11th wasn't an act of terrorism, but an act of religion, because of the actions of the united states in history.
apparently, while too cowardly to actually say he approves of the terrorism on the u.s., like so many muslims are cowardly in this regard, he seems to slip in his approval through the back door, as it were.

I'm a 52 year old man who has raised five children. I don't need to take any shit from you. I don't care what kind of weapon you carry. I'm sure it serves as a nice substitute for a penis for you. Now fuck off and have a nice day.

Obviously, they couldn't get you in at the clinic this week. You need to get back on the medicaton.
You're correct, I don't know you and wouldn't want to know you. You sound like a royal asshole to me. I hope they only allow you to carry a flashlight and not a gun.
BTW, whether or not I tell other people or the Ayatollah himself to FUCK OFF isn't going to result in anyones death. People have already died in NY and DC from the actions of lunatic Islamic animals. I can't believe you missed that point. Not true, I can believe it.

Nathan:
I'm probably more libertarian in my thinking than I am anything else. I wouldn't view registering my intent to canvas a neighborhood for religious purposes, or otherwise as chipping away at a freedom anymore than being required to register to vote is chipping away at my freedom to vote. We have a constitutional right to free assembly and yet municipalities clearly have the power to require parade permits. So, I don't believe that registering ones intent to carry out an act and freedom to carry out that act are mutually exclusive. So on this one, we disagree.

Did you want to make an intellectual point regarding the words of Anthony Mundine or did you simply want to take an opportunity to rag on me for using the expression "FUCK OFF". Do these words offend you? Or do people who take a position against Islam offend you? The point of my orignal post wasn't my opinion of Muslims. It was the typical fence walking of Muslims like Mr. Mundine, when it comes to the September 11 attacks. They verbally reject the action, but sympathize with the motives behind the action.
What I really would like to know is, when was the last time you had a strong opinion on anything? Or are you typical of so many online who just like to snipe at the posts of others. I suspect the latter.

I wish I were wrong on this as well. But the prospects of democratic, capitalistic governments coexisting in peace with Islamic nations (theocracies) does not look very promising. However, there are those who believe we should be accomodating with them at any cost in order to avoid deadly conflict. They are certainly entitled to their opinion, and I would NEVER suggest that they must leave the forum. But that's just me. Obviously SixofNine believes only rightminded people like he/she are welcome here.
